Sea Otter Australia

Australia's largest ever multi-day cycling festival featuring a huge expo, industry summit, and various racing and riding events... all 'Trash Free Trails Approved'.

We’re super excited to be working with Sea Otter Australli, creating one of the largest ‘Trash Free Trails Approved’ events outside of the UK.

Sea Otter Australia: The Cycling Festival

Sea Otter Australia is the Southern Hemisphere's inaugural edition of the world's largest cycling festival brand, traditionally held in Monterey, California. The multi-day event, hosted at the new Mogo Trails network and Batemans Bay on the NSW South Coast, is far more than a race; it is a comprehensive celebration of the entire cycling ecosystem. It features an array of competitive races across multiple off-road disciplines, including gravity enduro, cross-country, and gravel fondos, designed to encourage participation from all skill levels. Crucially, the festival incorporates a massive Expo and Tradeshow showcasing the latest bikes, gear, and industry trends, alongside a dedicated Summit that brings together industry leaders to discuss crucial issues like trail-based tourism and sustainable development. The event serves as a major economic catalyst for the Eurobodalla region, leveraging significant infrastructure investment to establish the NSW South Coast as a premier global cycling destination.

The Role of Trash Free Trails Australia

Trash Free Trails Australia plays a pivotal and integrated role by partnering with the event to achieve 'Trash Free Trails Approved' status, a sustainable event accreditation scheme. This partnership is central to ensuring Sea Otter Australia minimises its environmental impact, setting a new benchmark for large-scale cycling events in the region. Specifically, your organisation is responsible for coordinating the removal and reduction of Single-Use Pollution (SUP)—like wrappers, bottles, and packaging—from the wild places hosting the event. This involves educational activations at the event hub to empower attendees, riders, runners, and roamers to embrace a 'leave a positive trace' mentality, and mobilising crews to diligently sweep the extensive race course and surrounding areas, acting as a visible, proactive force for trail stewardship. This effort aligns the festival's focus on world-class riding with a commitment to protecting the Australian bushland.
