Mount Narra (also known as Deep Creek) is a premier mountain biking hub located in Sydney's Northern Beaches, specifically within the Garigal National Park. It is renowned for its technical "Sydney Sandstone" terrain and challenging descent-focused trails.
Technical Nature: These trails are largely not beginner-friendly. The area is famous for tight, natural singletrack, chunky rock gardens, and steep sandstone slabs.
Difficulty: Most trails are rated Blue (Intermediate) to Double Black Diamond (Expert). Expect a "gnarly" and "brutal" riding experience with plenty of technical trail features (TTFs).
Ride Style: Primary trail types are All-Mountain (AM) and Downhill (DH). While there is a dedicated climbing trail (Vovós), many riders choose to shuttle to the top via the nearby roads.
The main line off the top; features technical drops and jumps.
High-speed entry to the network with a difficult rock roll-down.
A "tech-head" favorite starting on rock slabs and ending in steep loam.
Known for its flowy jump sections and high-quality jumps.
A gnarly ridge-line trail with chutes, jumps, and a final drop near the lake.
Access: The main car park is at Deep Creek Reserve. From there, you cross a bridge over the creek to reach the bottom of the trail network.
Maintenance: Many trails are maintained by the local Garigal Gorillas MTB Club.
Trash Management: Trash Free Trails manages the trash in 'The Compound' where riders tend to congregate. There is a general waste bin and "at-source-sorting" cage for recycling cans and bottles woth Return & Earn proceeds going back into the club and trail maintenance.
Weather: The sandstone base means the area typically dries quite well after rain, though the lower sections near the creek can stay damp.
